GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD

After bumping into the same couple at photo spot after photo spot, we finally landed at the old two-cell jail in Joliet. Luckily, we found a Get Out of Jail Freeee card just in time! 😄 Thanks for the laughs and great company — even if you are from Michigan! Until we meet again, road trip friends!"

The Detour That Told a Story As we were driving through Iowa, we noticed a few signs—one in particular caught our attention: “Hannibal” That sparked something in us. Hannibal? Slug Bug Rebels at the Ranch We made a rebellious little detour at the  Slug Bug Ranch —a place where you're  actually encouraged  to spray paint on the cars without getting in trouble. Naturally, we took full advantage of the opportunity to unleash our inner outlaws and tagged a couple of slug bugs with our roaming relics flair. Shockingly, Janet didn’t even hit me for not calling “slug bug” first—clearly, we were off our game. Don’t worry, we made up for it later.  Slug bug! While we were mid-spray, we ran into the sweetest little family with an even sweeter little girl. And yes, you guessed it—we had to  corrupt  her. In the best way possible, of course. We handed her a can of spray paint and officially inducted her into the  tiny rebel hall of fame . It was only right! The Ultimate Route 66 Adventure: From Chicago to Santa Monica Thirty Eight days and countless adventures later, Janet and I finally picked up the keys for our road trip—two weeks of laughter, mischief, and discovery along the historic Route 66. Starting in Chicago, Illinois—the birthplace of this legendary highway—we couldn’t wait to dive into the ultimate American road trip. The first stop: the Museum of Ice Cream, followed by a visit to Chicago’s famed Second City. As we posed for pictures and explored, we met some friendly faces and even used a “get out of jail free card” in true road-trip fashion! Everything about Route 66 is big, bold, and fun.
