McDonald’s in Sedona Arizona

The drive to Sedona is truly something special. Going through the Oak Creek Canyon and Coconino national forest, adds to the beauty with their towering pines, scenic vistas, and dramatic changes in elevation. Here is a slice of what we drove through.

Then you hit those Sedona-color rocks — that deep red and orange sandstone that almost glows in the sunlight. It's like the landscape shifts into another world. Seeing the turquoise McDonald’s arches pop against that backdrop a perfect mix of nature and a surprising twist of pop culture.

The golden yellow arches were considered too bold and visually jarring against the warm, earthy tones of Sedona’s landscape. The turquoise color, on the other hand, was seen as more subdued and complementary — evoking the blue skies and Native American artistic traditions common in the region.

It’s a small but striking example of how a globally uniform brand like McDonald’s had to adapt to local cultural and environmental values.

  1. That is actually why I moved to AZ so many years ago - Sedona! There is a DQ in Oak Creek Canyon with a huge parking lot BEfORE you get to Sedona that Native Americans would sell their crafts directly to you! Worth a stop and a chat if u are still in the area!
