Standing on the Corner in Winslow Arizona
🎶 Take it easy, take it easy… Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy… 🎶
As we rolled into Winslow, Arizona—yes, that corner—we made a stop at the famous "Here It Is" sign with the iconic jackrabbit
that's shown up in quite a few movies. Right nearby, we snapped a photo of a rabbit riding a motorcycle,
and another one of a huge jackrabbit standing proudly next to the sign.
Driving further, we stumbled upon some awesome vintage spots, including a throwback gem: the Desert Inn, converted into apartments.and plenty of old-school motel signs that make Route 66 feel like a time capsule.
Of course, we had to “stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona.” Janet cozied up with a slim and slightly frumpy cowboy statue, while I played a gigantic guitar on my tippy-toes.
We made sure to grab the classic Take It Easy wings photo,
and we even got one in the middle of the street standing on the Route 66 emblem.
We met a kind woman named Jodi, who offered to take our picture. She and her group were from Washington, but they had flown into Chicago to begin their Route 66 journey—on June 5th, just like us! We crossed paths in Winslow, and maybe we’ll meet again down the road.
As if it were meant to be, a single ray of light broke through the clouds and shined down on us. We took in even more beautiful pictures of murals as we cruised through town.
All in all, we captured some incredible memories and the journey and the moments have been worth it.
