Tulsa Takes the Spotlight on Route 66

We kicked off the day in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and dove straight into the quirky charm Route 66 is famous for. First up, the unforgettable sight of a Volkswagen Bug perched proudly on Spider Legs—defying gravity and making us smile.

Our next quick stop was at the Praying Hands, a quiet moment before things got wild.

We ran into the “Giant Gold Digger, found a Large pair of Glasses, and made our way past Rancho Grande and the friendly folks at Howdy Burger and the sassy Red Light Chicken.

Tulsa had no shortage of eye candy—murals galore, including one that stated there is: “No Place Like Here.” We wandered through the Cosmic Curious, the owner painted all of the mural and designed the layout of the store. Sniffed the scent of Meadow Gold Flower, and snapped photos with Rocket Man, robots, pigs, and cowgirls.

We saw Route 66 signs around nearly every corner, and one of the day’s giants—a massive Giant, “Mac holding an axe”—definitely stole the show. At the Oklahoma marker, we both made it official with a foot on the line.

Neon lights flickered at the vintage TV store, water towers dotted the skyline, and ”East Meets the West statue stood tall as the past met the present. To top it off, all eight state flags waving proudly along Route 66—a perfect endcap to a wildly colorful Tulsa adventure.
